I have to admit, I have been both very lucky and privileged to have had so many desert experiences in Egypt. Although after my first journey to the Eastern Desert in search of rock art, I had very little option but to keep on returning. The desert is certainly a ‘love or hate’ experience, and I loved it with a passion. As the sand can never be totally removed from one’s socks, boots, underwear or bags, neither can the longing to return be removed from the restless mind.
Below, are just a few very treasured memories from the Eastern Desert, White Desert, Black Desert, Glif Kebir, Dakhla Oasis, Great Sand Sea and much of the Sahara. Including abandoned relics from WWII desert missions. For more images and information click here.
But take care, it can become addictive!
